 KL Bar Run 2019

The start of the year always has most lawyers on their toes. While it is usually due to the fact of the end of the holiday season - and the lawyers are due back in the courtroom for trials and hearings, or back at the negotiation table, or the never-ending arbitration continues – it is also the period when the highly anticipated KL Bar Run takes place.

The 5th edition of the KL Bar Run took place on 15 January 2019 at Lake Gardens, Kuala Lumpur, which brought together 170 teams of close to 700 runners from across West Malaysia.

The KL Bar run comprises of a 3km relay race run by the lawyers in Malaysia. Each team consists of 4 runners (there must be at least one female and one male runner in each team), each runner is to run the full length of the 3km route before handing the baton over to the next runner in the team, and thereby each team would complete 4 loops of the 3km route.

CCA raised the bar this year by sending a record of 17 teams. The throng of 68 pupils, associates, partners and alumnus of CCA torched the pavement in Lake Gardens in their burnt orange running tee together with the rush of adrenaline, pure determination and grit to finish the run.

The runners would be rewarded with nasi lemak from Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock and home-made toasted kaya bread to be flushed down with fresh coconut water at Loke Mansion, and to be greeted by the senior partners of CCA.

Therefore, the runners had two things in mind when they turned up at Lake Gardens – to either finish the run in reasonable time or be late for breakfast with the senior partners.

We are proud to announce that our runners turned up on time for breakfast with our senior partners. That day, we brought back home to CCA a few things – pride, camaraderie and plenty of laughs.

We are also proud to have brought back home the following prizes:

  1. Fanciest Dressed Team (Champion) - comprising of Christopher Leong, Janet Chai, Dayrion Yeoh and Danial Hiqmar
  2. Overall Fanciest Dressed Team (1st Runner Up) – CCA
  3. Fastest Team (3rd Runner Up) – comprising of Kenneth Koh, Ivan Fredric Yun, Lim Etheng and Nicholas Leong

We look forward to chasing a better performance and timing at the next edition of the KL Bar Run with a bigger CCA family.
